Workshop with Joel Hamilton
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 12:30-14:00 // HOVEDSALEN BARE
In this masterclass, Joel Hamilton—a New York-based, multi-platinum-selling, multi-Grammy-nominated producer, mixer, engineer, and songwriter—reflects on aesthetic decision-making in music production and songwriting. What does "better" mean in this context, and how can it be achieved? By tracing the journey from demo to the top of the Billboard charts, Hamilton examines how production choices and technology shape a song’s impact and its ability to connect with broader audiences. In conversation with Ingvild Koksvik, singer, song-maker, and researcher at CreaTeME, he will also share insights from his collaboration with Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin, including the rare opportunity to access every individual track in The Beatles’ legendary catalog.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 09:00-10:30 // HOVEDSALEN BARE
Join producer and songwriter Lars Kristian Rosness for a deep dive into his electronic popular music production practice. With writing and production credits for artists like Alan Walker, Chris Holsten, Emelie Hollow, and Julie Bergan, Lars Kristian Rosness brings a wealth of experience to the session. The workshop will showcase hybrid setups that combine traditional instruments with laptops, as well as laptop-centered configurations. We’ll explore techniques for real-time sound manipulation, integrating live sampling, and working with both acoustic and digital sonic materials to create and shape soundscapes. The goal is to inspire and expand the toolbox for electronic musicians, composers, and performers, broadening their repertoire of improvisational and compositional strategies with and through music technology in collaborative settings.
