The event featured an inspiring day with acclaimed jazz artist Siril Malmedal Hauge and her talented band, offering attendees a unique opportunity to delve into the world of jazz music and explore the creative processes behind their sound. Event Program:
10:00 AM – Concert
The day kicked off with a captivating live performance by Siril Malmedal Hauge Band in the concert hall. Attendees were treated to the rich, emotive soundscapes that have defined Siril’s career, showcasing her artistic depth and the synergy of the band.
11:00 AM – Q&A and Discussion
Following the concert, the audience had the opportunity to engage directly with the band through a Q&A session. This segment encouraged open dialogue, where participants explored the band’s creative journey, their approach to music, and behind-the-scenes stories of their artistic process.
12:00 PM – Lunch Break
Participants took a break to refresh and network during a casual lunch.
12:30 PM – Masterclasses

Siril Malmedal Hauge and her band provided feedback to the master’s students in songwriting at UiA, adding a tailored educational experience for those pursuing academic music studies.
Masterclass Leaders:
Siril Malmedal Hauge
A renowned singer, songwriter, and lyricist, Siril has released 15 albums and earned several awards for her work. She has toured internationally, making her one of the central figures in Norwegian jazz. Her session focused on vocal techniques, lyric writing, and building a successful career in the music industry.
Torgeir Hovden Standal
A versatile guitarist, Torgeir’s career spans numerous collaborations with Norwegian artists. His masterclass covered guitar techniques, improvisation, and his experiences as a music educator.
Martin Myhre Olsen
Martin is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger with both national and international acclaim. He has worked alongside legendary musicians like Chick Corea and contributed to several award-winning projects. His class explored saxophone artistry, composition, and arranging for jazz ensembles.
Martin Morland
An experienced bassist, Martin has worked with Norway’s top artists across jazz, pop, and rock genres. His session focused on rhythm section dynamics, bass performance techniques, and his experience working on Spellemann Award-winning albums.
Håvard Aufles
A pianist and synth player known for his contributions to the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and GURLS, Håvard’s class explored the role of keyboards in modern jazz, from traditional acoustic approaches to electronic synthesis.
Øystein Aarnes Vik
A versatile drummer and composer, Øystein has extensive experience in both jazz and folk music. His masterclass covered rhythmic techniques, percussion composition, and his contributions to critically acclaimed studio projects.
