CreaTeME live at Arendalsuka 2024 at the 12th of August: ConcertTalk with LYDHØR norbakken/eriksen and guest Hanne Kolstø
LYDHØR with norbakken/eriksen at Arendalsuka 2024
The “LYDHØR norbakken/eriksen” concert series, created by Associate Professors Torun Eriksen and Hilde Norbakken, made an impact at Arendalsuka by exploring the relationship between technology and music. Originating from Kilden Performing Arts Centre, this performance invited the audience to consider whether technology is a friend or foe to music.
Guest artist and author Hanne Kolstø brought a contrasting view on technology’s role in music, sparking lively discussions with the professors. These conversations, interspersed with spontaneous musical interludes, explored how technology can both enhance and challenge creativity. Kolstø pushed Eriksen and Norbakken to reconsider their cautious stance toward digital tools, suggesting that technology could expand musical possibilities.
As the performance continued, the focus shifted to the experience of creating music in the moment, without digital manipulation. The musicians engaged in impromptu exchanges where conversation became part of the music, inviting the audience to experience music from the inside and engage actively.
The intimate and interactive setting fostered a strong connection between performers and audience, highlighting the unique appeal of the “LYDHØR” series.
The performance was more than just a concert; it was an exploration of music, technology, and the human experience. Eriksen and Norbakken’s ability to blend analog music with engaging dialogue created a space for thoughtful reflection on how technology influences creativity, making the evening a exploration of music.
