CreaTeME Advisory Board Meeting in Malmö
The Advisory Board for CreaTeME gathered in Malmö, Sweden, on the 19th-20th of May 2025, to discuss strategic goals for CreaTeME over the coming years.
The Advisory Board, which consists of educators, researchers, and artists, offered their perspectives on the place of music and artists in today’s contemporary society. What influences, challenges, and threatens – but also what creates and enables – art and music to remain important arenas for human expression and coexistence? How can the creative industry and education coexist, and how are they interconnected?
Strategy – Short term and long term
The main theme for the Malmö meeting was the strategy for CreaTeME. What is the strategy for CreaTeME from 2025-2027, and what will be the direction after the national funding stops in 2027?
“These broad, overarching discussions with perspectives from active external experts play a vital role in CreaTeME’s strategic direction,” commented Hilde Nordbakken, Co-leader in CreaTeME, after the meeting.

“It was a discussion that also focused on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial learning, technology, and the industry perspective,” says Lars Andersson, leader of the Advisory Board and Director of Education at Malmö Academy of Music. He is particularly concerned about music students’ relationship with technology in the future. “I think we had two really fruitful days. It’s vital that CreaTeME already starts to talk about how we can sustain CreaTeME for 2028 and beyond, to help future generations continually deal with the use of new technology in music while at the same time making space for creative and artistic music-making in higher music education.”
This was the third meeting of the Advisory Board for the academic year 2024/2025. The two days ended with action items that could serve as the foundation for an action plan for CreaTeME for 2026 and the years to come.
