CREATEME and the PUNKT FESTIVAL: Live Remix Workshop Call
CreaTeME are very proud to continue the collaboration with The Punkt Festival, one of the most significant European festivals in contemporary electronic music. Punkt is renowned for its innovative “Live Remix” concept, where artists perform live remixes immediately following a concert, reinterpreting the original performance in real-time. This approach fosters continuous creation and collaboration, allowing audiences to experience music in a dynamic and evolving context.
Workshop for students
For this year’s Punkt festival, CreaTeME is offering an intensive remix workshop week that is open for students at our collaborating universities.
The workshop will include three main sessions:
“The Basics of Live Remix”, by Peter Baden and Alessandra Bossa, “The Aesthetics of Punkt Live Re-mixes”, by Tone Åse and festival co-founder Jan Bang. Also included is ”Moreskinsound” by David Toop and Ania Psenitsnikova that explore the idea of sound and silence, movement and still-ness as a unified field of action.
The workshop will also include several playing sessions and give access to the entire festival program.
What is Live remixing?
A live remix involves artists creating an on-the-spot reinterpretation of a performance, utilizing elements from the original concert as a foundation. This process offers a fresh perspective on the music, emphasizing spontaneity and innovation.
At Punkt, the artistic significance of the Live Remix concept lies in its ability to transform the festival into a “live laboratory of sound,” where performances are continuously reimagined by participating artists.
