Get ready to embark on an exhilarating journey as CreaTeME, the Center for Creative Technology in Music Education, takes its place within the vibrant confines of Kraftverk.

Kraftverk, Kristiansand’s dynamic nexus of art, culture, and knowledge, has breathed new life into the historic art museum at Skippergata 24b. Here, a thriving community is emerging, comprising the vibrant student hub BARE, captivating educational programs, and inspiring exhibitions orchestrated by the Faculty of Arts at UiA. Alongside these offerings, two floors of cutting-edge digital innovation and cultural space will serve as the home for visionary entrepreneurs, forward-thinking businesses, dynamic knowledge ecosystems, and innovative competence centers. Additionally, Kraftverk will provide shared office spaces for several of the region’s esteemed foundations.

In this rapidly evolving digital landscape, technology is fundamentally reshaping the contours of music education and society itself. As an educational institution, we recognize the imperative of embracing these changes in our research, artistic development, and teaching practices. Hence, the establishment of CreaTeME—a Center for Excellent Education dedicated to harnessing the creative potential of technology in higher music education.

Our vision is clear and resolute: to pioneer innovative, inclusive, responsive, and responsible applications of technology in artistic education. Our ultimate ambition is to ascend as an international hub, driving the advancement of artistic and pedagogical uses of technology in higher music education.

At CreaTeME, our expertise is fortified through an extensive network of partners, spanning the realms of local, national, and international collaborations. Together, we aim to generate profound insights and knowledge that can be shared broadly across the realms of arts education and other disciplines where technological innovation holds similar transformative potential.

What is Kraftverk?

The power plant at Skippergata 24b is Kristiansand’s meeting place for art, culture, and knowledge.

A wide range of actors in research, education, production, and dissemination are gathered, and Kraftverk consists of sub-concepts such as:

Meeting place for digital innovation and cultural production
Teaching and showcasing (UiA – University of Agder)
Student House BARE (SiA – Student Welfare Organization)

These concepts develop their own sub-identities on each floor but collaborate to develop Skippergata 24b as an open meeting place for art, culture, and knowledge. In collaboration with tenants, users, and the public, Cultiva will contribute to creating a vibrant meeting place where each individual can improve in an environment that mutually supports and challenges each other.

Cultiva owns and operates Skippergata 24b through its subsidiaries Skippergata 24b AS and Digitalt Kulturhus AS.
