In this workshop, the Live Electronic students were invited to explore how feedback can be used as a musical resource. Øyvind Brandtsegg, professor of music at NTNU and known for his work in experimental music, sound installations, and the development of real-time sound processing tools, guided the students in controlling, shaping, and creatively applying feedback in live electronic music.
The students experimented with transducer speakers and contact microphones to explore how different materials and surfaces influence resonance and feedback. By adjusting the placement of microphones and speakers, they gained insight into how small changes can create dramatic differences in sound response as well as the possibilities offered by effects such as compression, EQ, and reverb in shaping the sonic outcome.
CreaTeME hosted the workshop at BARE Studenthus, November 11-12, 2024.
Live Electronics is a one-year full-time programme offered at the Faculty of Fine Arts. The course equips students with methods and strategies for using music technology in concert settings, focusing on real-time composition and improvisation, as well as mastering relevant tools, techniques, and forms of expression in the field.
