“Immersive audio” is taking hold of the music industry in ways we couldn’t have predicted back in the surround sound era. Streaming services are offering new mixes based on the latest technology, and major existing repertoires are being remixed from stereo to ATMOS. But how does “immersive audio” affect the creative process in the collaboration between music producers, songwriters, and artists? And does the format really have an impact on audiences?
