CreaTeME and UiA debate live at Arendalsuka 2024 12th of August: “Blanke Ark” at Arendalsuka 2024

“Exclusion” was a term frequently discussed, yet the question remained—who decided who was included and who was left out? Blanke Ark – Arendalsuka 2024, an event held in Arendal, Norway, aimed to address this issue by providing a platform for young voices to be heard. The event gathered 150 young people from various backgrounds, including those who had experienced both exclusion and inclusion, to share their perspectives through music and conversation.

The central message from these young participants was clear: they did not seek applause but rather demanded that their voices be valued equally with those of adults. They emphasized that the future belonged to them, and their inclusion in society was essential for shaping that future. The event’s focus on community highlighted the importance of collective efforts in fostering a more inclusive society.

A significant feature of Blanke Ark – Arendalsuka 2024 was the involvement of Masud Gharahkhani, the President of the Norwegian Parliament, who engaged in discussions on how to make Norway a better place for its youth. This collaboration reflected a commitment to involving young people in dialogues that directly impacted their lives.

Blanke Ark was more than just an event; it was a methodology developed by ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Center. Through artistic expressions, such as music, film, and performances, young people from diverse backgrounds came together to create and share their visions for the future. This initiative had already influenced national policy discussions and aimed to continue shaping the conversation around youth inclusion.

Blanke Ark – Arendalsuka 2024 delivered a blend of insightful discussions, artistic performances, and a vibrant atmosphere, all geared towards making society more inclusive—right here and right now.
