Proposal for New AI Center on Creativity and Arts Reaches Final Round

In early 2024, the Research Council of Norway announced a call for proposals to establish four to six research centers dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), within a budget framework of NOK 850 million. The number of candidates is continuously decreasing, and the application that CreaTeME is involved in is still in the competition.

In the summer of 2024, the Research Council received 122 outline proposals, leading to 50 formal applications by January 2025.

Currently, nineteen applications have advanced to the final round of evaluation by an international expert panel. CreaTeME is part of the proposal ‘MishMash – Center for AI & Creativity,’ one of the applications that have reached this final stage.

The MishMash initiative began with CreaTeME from the University of Agder (UiA) and RITMO from the University of Oslo (UiO). It quickly expanded to a much larger consortium, featuring an exciting and extensive list of partners who collectively aim to establish a new AI center focused on creativity and the arts.
